A socket head brassey by Charlie Johns, stamped in script to crown Chas Johns, horn insert, brass sole plate, lead backweight, original hickory shaft, full length sheepskin grip with underlisting.

A lovely looking club, refurbished very well, sturdy, circa 1912.

Charlie Johns was born in Devonport in 1887. He was a well known professional who made many wooden clubs, including special wooden cleeks, bull dog baffies and pear shaped bulgers. He served at Southdown Shoreham (1908-1910), Ashford Manor (1910-1915) and Purley Downs (1915-1947, War Service 1916-1919).
