Description
A Tony Wood novelty teapot in the form of a dimple golf ball with green base surround, lid with flag inscribed 18 and handle in the shape of an upturned club.
Fine condition, eight inches high, 1982-1990.
The Wood dynasty of potters lasted for over two hundred years. Tony Wood was the MD of Wood & Sons in the 1960s when the company employed over 1000 people and it was producing Toby jugs in great numbers. In 1982 Tony left to form his own company, in collaboration with Elizabeth Capper, at Fenton, Staffs. The company enjoyed some success but the receivers were called in in 1991 and this ended the long family association with pottery production.
